MILWAUKEE — Former Packers Safety Leroy Butler hinted in a tweet that he did not make the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. Likely waiting, again. But when we sat down with him, he refuses to get depressed.
Lance Allan: "Second time that you're a finalist. Do you feel better than the first time?"
LeRoy Butler: "Ah, I feel about the same. Because I don't really, Lance, I don't know what they go by. I really don't."
Lance Allan: "You're the last guy that's on the all-decade team, from the '90s. That isn't in?"
LeRoy Butler: "Yeah, I feel like Chicken Little. Have ever seen that? His coach says don't swing! And he swung and he won it. So, and I get it. I get it."
"And you know how I look at it really, to be honest with you? This is how I look at it. You have a brand. That's Charles Woodson. Peyton Manning. Calvin Johnson. All the brands. The generics are people that you have to discuss. Now generics does the same thing as a brand but most people in their mind: 'I wanna buy the brand.' And I also think that some of the people who are voting think it was just Brett Favre and Reggie White, and Ron Wolf. But if they dig down a little bit deeper, they'll see that there's one, maybe two more guys. Me and Mike Holmgren, that should have an opportunity. But I will say this though, I'm a Christian young man. I believe I mean God is good," says Butler.
On the flip side, soon to be Packers Hall of Famer Charles Woodson, should be a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer, when announced next week.
