MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee police officer was hurt in a shooting Wednesday after police tried to stop a man who was carrying a rifle and firing shots into the air.
In a media briefing, Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said officers asked the man, who was carrying a semi-auto rifle, to stop shooting. Norman said the man refused, and instead shot at officers.
That's when a 37-year-old male officer with eight years of service fired at the man. Sources tell TMJ4 the suspect later died.
A 34-year-old male police officer, also with eight years of service, was hurt in the exchange of gunfire. The officer was shot twice - once in the torso and once in the leg, sources say.
