MILWAUKEE — Two adults were taken into custody for criminal charges related to animal cruelty after an extensive investigation with the Wisconsin Department of Justice on the city's north side.

Milwaukee Police said they issued a search warrant near the 4600 block of North 24th Pl. about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday after receiving information that human remains were buried there. During an extensive search of the property and excavation of the yard, no human remains were found. Police did recover a canine's remains.

Due to the debris located inside the property, it was deemed unfit for anyone to live and was boarded up.
