MILWAUKEE, WI - Launching its 15th season of service Friday, a Milwaukee staple set sail on Lake Michigan.
“We have people who ride every opening day just to experience it," said VP of Marketing, Aaron Schultz.
"For them, it’s a way to kick off summer," he continued.
The ferry seats 248 passengers and only takes about two and a half hours to cross Lake Michigan —a voyage with senior Captain John Rogers at the helm for the season opener.
“We’re just really looking forward to a good season," Captain Rogers said.
"And making people happy, taking them where they want to go," he continued.
The Lake Express is touted as the first high-speed auto ferry to operate in the U.S. —and this season alone, the crew plans to make more than 800 lake crossings from Milwaukee to Muskegon, Michigan.
