The Kenosha Unified School District has reversed its decision regarding a memorial for a student who was murdered in May.

On Tuesday, the district said no to the cheer team's idea to honor their former squad member Kaylie Juga.

"The District will not sanction any memorials or acknowledgments because it would be legally required to do so for all students involved in order to protect the District against possible legal claims. Instead, the District will remain neutral," read a statement from Kenosha Unified.

Since then, Superintendent Dr. Sue Savaglio-Jarvis and Board President Dan Wade have decided that the memorial cheer may occur as planned.

Students on the cheer team will hold pictures of Kaylie during the Bradford High School football game and wear blue t-shirts, Kaylie's favorite color, in her honor.

Kaylie Juga was shot and killed in May. Prosecutors believe her ex-boyfriend, 16-year-old Martice Fuller is responsible for her death.
