KENOSHA — A Kenosha middle school student under arrest after posting a video with a rifle, threatening to shoot during lunch. This is the latest in a series of threats at Mahone Middle School. But this time, police found a gun at the student's home.
"It makes me sick. It makes me sick," said Celeste Fleming, a mother of a student.
Parents said their kids were worried about going to school Friday.
"Kind of just a general fear of today," said Gianna Fleming, 13.
"Some of my friends were freaking out about it, scared," said Deanna Pavlovsch, 13.
"It's scary our kids have to be afraid to go to school," said Tammy Branca, mother of a student.
The Kenosha News reported the 13-year-old posted a video of himself with gun. That's when police were alerted to the situation. Investigators say it was the family's semi-automatic rifle, but the child did not have ammunition.
"They said he didn't have ammunition but really why do you have a rifle if you don't have ammunition," said Celeste Fleming.
This is the latest in a series of threats at Mahone Middle School.
Earlier in the day Thurday, a student was found with a pocket knife after making threats to hurt another student last week. Wednesday, a student threatened to shoot another student. He showed a photo of himself with a gun. Police checked and found it was an airsoft gun. Last Monday, November 11, two students were overheard talking about setting off an explosive at school
"Sad, they they can't just kids and enjoy school and not have to worry about a threat every week or every other week," said Celeste Fleming.
TODAY'S TMJ4 reached out to the Kenosha Unified School District, but they did not respond our request for a comment. The Kenosha Police Department is asking parents to talk to their kids about the seriousness of making threats.
