It's slow business for the snow business

It's slow business for snow business right now. The lack of snow so far this January has some snow removal businesses feeling the heat.

Snow means cash for Michael Schaal. He says clear roads and temperatures above freezing have significantly hurt his snow plowing business this month.

"It's pretty bad right now. I feel bad for my guys who work for me," said Michael Schaal with Two Brothers Lawn & Snow. "I haven't plowed since Dec 24."

It's only snowed two days this month. Last January was quiet too, with only five inches of snow. Normally in January, Milwaukee gets 11 inches of the white stuff.
Over at All City Towing in Milwaukee, winter storms mean big business. Every employee is usually in and out all day responding  to calls.

"Whenever the snow comes, we are extremely busy," said Jeff Piller with All City Towing. "We all hope for the snow. We enjoy it. We work all day long. We do a little bit of everything. Cars in ditches, cars stuck at the end of driveways, they get  stuck in alleys."

The snow in the forecast is giving some business owners a reason to smile, but if winter ends, Schaal is already planning for spring.

"At this point, you have to flip a coin," said  Schaal. "Do you want it to snow and make more money,  or do you want the grass cutting season to come faster?"
