MILWAUKEE — Video from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office shows how a semi-truck, that was moving too fast, crashed into a tow truck on the Mitchell Interchange that caused delays for hours early Monday.
A tow truck was responding to an earlier crash on the interchange when a semi-truck came crashing into it. The cab of the semi truck was separated from its base and flipped over blocking all three lanes of traffic.
The tow truck slammed into the wall and pinned the person inside. The driver of the tow truck had to be pulled out by the Milwaukee Fire Department with serious but non-life-threatening injuries according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
The semi truck driver Ali Z. Abubakar and his passenger were able to leave the cab on their own with cuts on their arms and head. Everybody involved in the crash was taken to the hospital.
Abubakar has a valid commercial driver's license from Ohio. He was issued two citations: driving to fast for the conditions and failing to keep his vehicle under control. Both fines are $224.00.
All lanes of traffic were closed from 11:15 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
