Racine County Sheriff's Office responded to five crashes within thirty minutes early Saturday morning, triggered by icy roads.
According to a press release, officials received reports of accidents spanning from 3:24 a.m. through 4:03 a.m in the area of I-94 between 5 Mile Road and 8 Mile Road.
One crash included a semi-truck going through a median wall and blocking southbound lanes. Several other cars headed southbound then skidded on the icy roadway and hit the barrier wall.
Deputies also responded to a car vs. tree accident and two other vehicles in a ditch.
The interstate was closed northbound at Highway K and southbound at Ryan Road from 3:27 a.m. until 7:15 a.m.
