I-41 crash leaves teen dead, several others injured in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A deadly, two-vehicle crash killed one man and injured many others Sunday on I-41 -- just south of CTH K in Washington County. 

The Washington County Sheriff's office responded to the crash around 8 p.m.

The crash involved a mini-van which was driven by an 18-year-old man -- and an SUV holding one woman and six children.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the 18-year-old driver was heading northbound and crossed over the median into southbound traffic. The SUV struck his car on the passenger side. 

Flight for Life was requested and landed on the scene. CPR was started on the 18-year-old driver -- but he was later declared deceased and not transported by Flight for Life.

The woman and six children were transported to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. 

The freeway was closed for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes for law enforcement to facilitate rescue, investigative, and clean-up efforts.

The accident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
