MILWAUKEE — TMJ4, Hunger Task Force, and Raymond James Financial have partnered for the Home 4 the Holidays Virtual Food Drive.

By visiting HungerTaskForce.org, or clicking HERE, you can make a donation that could help feed a Milwaukee area family this holiday season.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many in-person food drives have been canceled this holiday season, according to Sherrie Tussler, director of Hunger Task Force.

There won't be visits from Santa or any donated food drop-offs at the TMJ4 News station this year, but the online donations are still critical.

"We're seeing first-time visitors to food pantries, we've seen additional food distributions that we've had to hold for specific unemployed populations, more and more seniors are out at senior dining sites looking for our stock box program. So yeah, the need is increased," said Tussler.

Increased need for food in the community is also paired with the new challenge of safely collecting donated food amid the pandemic.

"The winter months are coming and it can be some of the harshest time because people are making decisions about their utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, so adding additional food into that household budget makes a huge difference and if you're able to be generous and help now is the time to do it," said Tussler.

The food drive runs through the month of December and all donations help local families in need.
