A serious crash in Delafield shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday shut down I-94 eastbound near Highway 83 for several hours.
Two vehicles were involved and the drivers of both were rushed to the hospital from the scene. One of the drivers was ejected from the vehicle, the other had to be cut out by firefighters. A Flight for Life helicopter was used to take one of the patients to the hospital.
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, but preliminary reports suggest one of the vehicles lost control on the westbound side, went through the median and crashed head-on into the other vehicle.
The condition of the people injured is unknown. The sheriff’s office did not know if weather was a factor in the crash. The freeway was reopened around 1 p.m.
