By late 2019, Graef will be moving their headquarters into the former Shops of Grand Avenue, now dubbed "The Avenue."
The headquarters will be moving into the new office spaces at the newly re-imagined Avenue, bringing along 170 jobs.
The Milwaukee Business Journalreports that the engineering and design firm is the first company to lease offices that will be built in the former downtown Milwaukee mall. Graef's 10-year lease commitment is a significant reason Avenue’s owners are now moving ahead with major renovations of West Wisconsin Avenue property.
Graef will take up 35,000 square feet in the former third-floor food court of the mall. This has lead to the expediting of construction inside Avenue as well.
Joining Graef in the Avenue will be 3rd Street Market Hall, a food hall that will feature six initial vendors.
Vendors for Market Hall include Stone Creek Coffee, Funky Fresh Spring Rolls and Donut Monster.
Graef does have a history with Grand Avenue as well. The company was on the team that helped create Grand Avenue in the late 1970s.
