One of Milwaukee's iconic markets is officially expanding. Glorioso's on Brady Street is developing its original location right across the street to teach people their trade.
Glorioso's market is full of ingredients for all things Italian.
"Our sauces are all made fresh in the store," said manager Felice Glorioso.
But when customers leave, it's up to them to turn cart loads of cheese, sausage and much more into a home-cooked meal. Glorioso's family-owned business is now moving forward with a project to open up their cookbook.
"We need the room, we need a bigger store," he said.
It's a $250,000 project that comes with 65 years of nostalgia. The vacant building used to be their original Brady Street market. It's now under construction to be turned into a cooking school.
"A lot of them are going to be our homemade recipes so they'll learn how to make our homemade lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, or how to make pasta from scratch."
Glorioso says the goal isn't just to expand their business, but to also bring people together to celebrate the biggest part of Italian culture. The plan brings excitement among the store’s regulars.
"I don't know how to do pizzas so I would love to learn how to do that," said Michela Novodomszky of Mount Pleasant.
The new location will also be home to Glorioso's expanding catering business. They hope to open by September.
