A Franklin man confronted two thieves who were breaking into his car Wednesday morning.

The man said his dog's barking alerted him that something was happening outside his home about 9:30 a.m.

When he went to his front door to check, he saw two men leave his car and take off. He then saw his car had been rifled through.

"My instinct, which I don't suggest anybody to do, is to follow them, get their license plate number," said the victim, Mark.

At first he followed them around the block and saw them inside a neighbor's car, then they took off again.

He continued following them.

"I got close enough so I could see their plate number and then the passenger proceeded to pull out a gun and aim it right at me," Mark said.

He then floored past them and drove back home where he called 911.

Franklin Police say no one should ever chase a criminal. Instead, the say you should call 911 right away if there is a problem. They also said the vehicle the suspects took off in was stolen. Police are still searching for the suspects.
