MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee's Fire and Police Commission is set to vote Wednesday on whether Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales gets to stay on the job.
A special session for the vote is scheduled after the regular Fire and Police Commission meeting.
The police chief's contract ends in January. He took over last year to serve out the term of retired Chief Ed Flynn.
Mayor Tom Barrett has said he wants Morales back.
"It is important for the independent Fire and Police Commission to act promptly to renew the contract of Chief Alfonso Morales. He has my support," said Mayor Barrett in a statement. "The City of Milwaukee needs a police chief. The people of Milwaukee deserve to have this critical position filled."
