MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission has kicked off the process of finding a new Milwaukee Police Chief.

The FPC board shared a press release Wednesday saying they're now conducting a local and nationwide search to replace Alfonso Morales as Milwaukee police chief.

"In this process, we will ensure that we have adequate community engagement and wide-pool of candidates to choose from for this vital leadership position for our City, before our final selection is made and announced," said the FPC in a press release.

The FPC is now accepting applications and will continue to do so until Friday, September 11. All applications must be received by 4:45 p.m. that day.

According to the FPC, comments are welcome from the City's Common Council and Mayor Tom Barrett. However, the FPC would mostly like feedback from the community.
