Former Milwaukee Homicide Detective says brutal violence at the Jayme Closs abduction scene, sets case apart. Steven Spingola now specializes in crime scene analysis and took a look at the Jayme Closs case for TODAY'S TMJ4.
"I think when you look at him he’s not on anybody’s radar" said Spingola.
Spingola says the man arrested for the crime, Jake Thomas Patterson had no criminal record at all likely meaning law enforcement never had any reason to suspect him.
"This type of a crime, I don’t think anyone ever saw this coming. I think somebody would have alerted us. His own family I think would have called," said Spingola.

As for why he picked Jayme, Spingola believes Patterson may have become obsessed.
"You see something, you become of obsessed with it whether you’re a shopaholic you see something you’ve got to buy it. But especially with love, he saw this young girl and became obsessed with her. He was willing to go to any lengths to basically take her," Spingola said.
Patterson was charged Monday with two counts of 1st degree intentional homicide, kidnapping and armed burglary in a Barron County courtroom.
