WAUKESHA — A Florida sheriff's deputy, originally from Waukesha, has died in the line of duty.

The Waukesha Police Department says 30-year-old Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Benjamin Nimtz was killed while responding to a domestic violence incident on Monday.

Police say he collided with a pickup truck, and later died as a result of his injuries.

Nimtz graduated from Waukesha South High School in 2007 and lived in Waukesha with his family before joining the military. He is survived by his wife and two children.
