KENOSHA — Rain during the last few days has led to flooding concerns throughout southeast Wisconsin, upsetting homeowners and farmers.
Joe Smith, co-owner of Jerry Smith Produce & Pumpkin Farm, said the high water is having a detrimental effect on his crops at a critical time.
“It’s just terrible. You work all summer long to get the harvest season, which is now,” Smith said.
This week's rain could cause about 40% of Smith’s crops to rot. He isn’t too concerned about the grain, but for produce such as tomatoes, pumpkins and peppers, it could be a complete loss.

“If we get more (rain) overnight this area will probably be twice as large. We’ll be standing in water if it rains some more,” Smith said.
And so will homeowners. People living throughout Kenosha County are frustrated about flooded yards, standing water in roadways, and, much like Smith, wishing future rainfall away.
