WAUSAU — A Wausau resident is picking up the pieces after officials say illegal fireworks caused damage to a rear windshield late Thursday.
Officers said a woman was exiting her vehicle when a firework struck her rear window in the 600 block of West Rosecrans Street on July 4. The Wausau Police Department said no one in the area was permitted to be lighting fireworks.
"If it leaves the ground or explodes, it's illegal and you will be cited," Wausau Police said in a Facebook post.
There were no reported injuries.
A local fireworks display was rescheduled for Friday night after concerns were raised over bad weather Thursday.
