Federal investigators interested in lawsuit filed against Froedtert

Court documents suggest federal investigators are now interested in a lawsuit against Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The TODAY'S TMJ4 I-Team first reported on this last year after a former surgeon alleged serious problems at the hospital.

Dr. Robert Love filed a lawsuit against the hospital in 2015 after he was let go from the hospital. His lawsuit claims patients died because the hospital did not follow the rules for organ transplants. Now the U.S Attorney's Office wants documents from the case.

The development appears in a document filed Monday by Love's attorneys.

The document filed Monday says the Justice Department "informed Dr. Love's counsel that they will receive imminently a subpoena demanding the production of documents."

The court filing asks the judge for permission to share the information with investigators.

Froedtert/MCW tells the I-Team they have nothing to say about the request.

The U.S. Attorney's office also declined to comment saying it could not confirm or deny an ongoing investigation.
