MILWAUKEE — Kelvin Zarkee Love, 37, of Milwaukee has been charged with attempted second-degree sexual assault after an assault on the city's east side early Aug. 30.

The female victim was entering the back door of her apartment building in the 1600 block of Prospect Avenue when Love grabbed her from behind, put his hand over her mouth and led her to a stairwell of the building, according to the criminal complaint. The victim did not know Love.

The victim resisted all sexual advances, obtaining injuries as she physically fought off Love, while screaming for anyone to help, according to surveillance footage from the apartment building. Love told investigators he left the building because of her "screaming and resistance," according to the complaint.

In addition to the sexual assault charge, Love was charged with felony bail jumping. If convicted of both, Love could spend up to 26 years in prison and be fined $60,000.
