A horse is dead and a driver injured after a car crashed into the horse early Sunday morning in Mount Pleasant.
Mount Pleasant police say the crash happened at 4:39 a.m. on Spring Drive.
The driver told police he was driving when a horse appeared on the road. She hit the animal and lost control of her car, and crashed into some trees.
The driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Wheaton Ascension.
The horse was killed in the crash. The owner said the horse had apparently escaped due to a possible fence issue.
The owner made arrangements to remove and bury the animal.
