Educator lauds school's program

Dr. Jill Biden took a tour of Milwaukee's Bradley Tech High School where students are taking advantage of a special program.

The MATC Promise is a program that's been praised so much by leaders in Milwaukee, that it caught Biden's attention.

The MATC promise is part of a non-partisan initiative created while President Barack Obama and her husband, Joe Biden, were in office. It offers free community college for hard working students.

"I thought it was the best idea ever and I was at the right place at the right time, because here I was at the community college and I saw how my students struggled to pay for their education and pay for books," Biden told the group of students.

Biden said that in this new chapter of her life, she still has a strong connection to education, inspiring students to further their education.

An educator herself, she's listened to various students talk about how they're stepping forward in their lives with the MATC promise.

"Community colleges are amazing places  and you can realize your dreams and you can just soar from there, the best is ahead of you, although it's pretty great here," Biden told the students.

MATC was the first school in Wisconsin to launch a promise program. More than 1,400 students are graduating from the technical college this spring.
