The Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) announced former U.S. second lady Dr. Jill Biden will be the keynote speaker at the school’s spring commencement.
MATC says approximately 1,400 students will graduate from the school's associate degree, technical diploma, apprentice and adult high school programs this spring.
Dr. Biden is currently an English professor at Northern Virginia Community College. As her time as second lady, she has promoted national awareness of the impact of community and technical education. In 2012, she traveled across the country as part of the “Community College to Career” tour to highlight industry partnerships between community colleges and employers.
The commencement will be held on Friday, May 12 at 6 p.m. at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in downtown Milwaukee.
