PIERCE COUNTY, Wis. -- Sheriff's deputies in Pierce County are looking for the person responsible for shooting a dog to death and leaving them in a ditch.

A female white lab was found in the ditch on County F in Clifton Township Thursday morning, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

The dog had been shot several times, and deputies say it appeared to have been there less than 24 hours.

The dog was well-groomed and the sheriff's office says they believe she was someone's pet.

If you have any information, deputies ask you contact the sheriff's office at 715-273-5051.
