The current Wisconsin State Superintendent Tony Evers is running for the Democratic nomination for governor.
Evers has been elected superintendent three times. Before his political career, he was a high school principal in Tomah, and ran school districts in Oakfield and Verona. He has more than 30 years of public education experience.

Political Background: Evers was first elected Wisconsin State Superintendent in April 2009, and was reelected twice in 2013 and 2017. Prior to his time as state superintendent, he served as the deputy state superintendent from 2001 to 2009. He has also worked as a regional administrator, superintendent, principal and teacher.
