Delafield Smiley Barn being repainted, set to open next month

Posted

The smile on Delafield's Smiley Face Barn is coming back!

This week the bright yellow color for smiley barn face is being painted back on, with a twist. The barn's owner Maria Luther says the red and white accents on the barn will give a more updated look.

To continue with updates, Luther says the barn is now a store that will offer candy, chocolates, and unique toys for all children, even those with special needs.

"We're going to have so many neat things that you can't find in other stores," said Luther. "This is a landmark, everyone loves the smiley barn and it's been a long time coming."

The barn lost its smile nearly 17 years ago. But, smile supporters like Art Wisniewski, are excited. Wisniewski says he'll enjoy sharing the iconic location with his four-year-old grandson Everett.

"Good! I thought it was a mistake when they left and it'll be nice to see it again," said Wisniewski.

The barn is still missing its iconic smile, which will be built from scratch some time next week. But Luther says everything will be ready for the official store opening on Saturday, Aug. 18.
