WEST ALLIS – West Allis Police are investigating a homicide that left a 34-year-old Milwaukee man dead.
According to West Allis Police, a call came in just before 2 a.m. Monday of a man lying in the roadway in the 6700 block of W. Lincoln Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man with injuries consistent with a possible stab and gunshot wounds. Police say lifesaving efforts were attempted, but the man died at the scene.
Police say whether the murder happened at Beloit Rd. and Lincoln Ave. or at some other location is still under investigation.
While there is heavy traffic in the area, today's investigation has been surprising to residents.
"I've never had problems over here," Tom Olla, West Allis said. "To me, it's a shocker and everything else."
"I hate to say it, it's kind of getting to be the norm," Paul Richlen said. "Never heard of anything going on or any problems. Pretty safe really. It's still a safe area no matter what."
"Goes to show you, things like this happen all over," Doris Wittenburg said. "It's sad."
