The City of Milwaukee has announced that due to an incoming winter storm which will be followed by record low temperatures, garbage and recycling collections will tentatively resume Thursday, Jan. 31.

Earlier Sunday, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele declared a snow emergency for Milwaukee County employees from 9 p.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday based on the National Weather Service’s Winter Storm Warning and expected hazardous weather conditions.
For the safety of our employees and the public, Milwaukee County government - including circuit courts - will be CLOSED on Monday 1/28. Essential personnel will still be on the job, including our outstanding road crews. For everyone else, STAY HOME if you can, and stay safe!

All of southeast Wisconsin will be under a Winter Storm Warning beginning Sunday night at 9 p.m. through Monday evening at 6 p.m. The National Weather Service predicts snow accumulations of seven to 14 inches.
Dangerous to life-threatening wind chills are expected to follow Tuesday into Thursday. Temperatures are expected to be the coldest since 1996, pushing wind chills into the 30 to 55 degree below zero range.
