WAUKESHA -- The City and Town of Waukesha experienced a widespread power outage Saturday morning.
The outage was reported around 8:30 a.m. According to We Energies over 5,500 residents were out of service. That is close to 3 percent of customers We Energies serves in the area. Power was restored to 1,600 customers around 10:30 a.m. -- and then to the remaining customers around 3:30 p.m.
The power outage was caused by a fire on a utility pole near railroad tracks. That fire also caused issues for some equipment at a substation.
