MOUNT PLEASANT — A Chicago man was arrested Monday and charged with possession with intent to deliver/manufacture marijuana/THC, the Mount Pleasant Police Department said in a news release.

At 11:12 p.m., police said they stopped a vehicle driven by Evan J. Fendley for a traffic violation on State Highway 31 at Larchmont Drive.

The officer said he smelled a strong odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle.

Fendley reportedly told the officer he had a “joint” and showed it to him. Upon further investigation, the officer said he discovered 4.35 pounds of marijuana in four plastic bags inside the vehicle. The driver also had three cellphones in his possession, police said.

Fendley was arrested and transported to the Racine County Jail.
