STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) — Police say a Plover man bought large plastic trash bags on the day his wife was last seen and left his fingerprints on a shopping bag containing her damaged cellphone.
Forty-four-year-old Jason Sypher appeared in court Monday on charges of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse. Cash bond was set at $750,000.
Sypher was arrested Friday near the Wisconsin-Illinois border. He reported his wife missing on March 20, 2017, a week after she was last seen at her home.
The Stevens Point Journal reports investigators apparently have not found Krista Sypher's remains.
According to the complaint, Jason Sypher said the couple had been on good terms but that things had not been "normal" between them for a while.
Sypher is due back in court for hearing on Sept. 10.
