Caught on video: Woman attacked for her purse at Milwaukee grocery store

Posted

An attacker targeted a woman walking into a west side grocery store, and went for her purse. Now police need your help finding the man who did it.

Surveillance video outside Sentry Food near 70th and Lisbon shows a woman about to enter the store. Suddenly, a man grabs her purse and yanks her to the ground. He rips it away from her body and runs away.

"That's horrible," said shopper Tia Thomas.

This happened just after eight Thursday morning. Video shows the man come up behind the woman from the parking lot. Thomas is a mother and runs a daycare. She bring the kids to the store for snacks almost everyday since it's right by a park.

"In my experience of going there, I never would have thought this would have happened especially 8:30 in the morning," said Thomas.

Laniece Greenwood worries she has enough distractions just trying to buy groceries.

"I got kids too. Pretty silly of him, wrong. He needs to be caught," said Greenwood.

And everyone feels for the victim.

"I'm hoping she's ok because it looks like she hit the ground pretty hard," said Thomas.

Milwaukee Police have the suspect on surveillance video. He is 6’ 01”, 180 lbs., and bald. If you think you know him call police at 414-935-7360.
