Car stolen from south side dealership for second time in two months

Posted

All it took was a split second for a salesman to turn his back and a thief to make off with a vehicle from a dealership on Milwaukee’s south side.

It happened at Premier Motors on National Avenue. The owner Patricia Ortiz thinks it's the same man who stole a van from them last month.

She says it happened Monday afternoon around 2:30 p.m.

"It's pretty frustrating, we're a small business, it's hard to make a living and when someone just walks in and takes it, it's frustrating," Ortiz said.

Ortiz told TODAY’S TMJ4 the thief walked into the office asking to see the car. While they were outside checking it out, the salesman turned his back and the crook sped away.

"I think it was just to get the salesman distracted," Ortiz said. "The person that appears from the videos is coming in from the same direction and it was almost around the same time."

We asked about the connection and Milwaukee police say they're still investigating.

Ortiz said the first car stolen in May was worth about $4,000, and the one stolen Monday was worth about $3,500.

It's another hit to their bottom line. Just last week, a van was stolen off of Ortiz’s brother’s lot on 27th and Forest Home.

The owners are offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who has information that leads to an arrest.
