The Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission chose Captain Alfonso Morales as the interim police chief Thursday night.

Morales will replace outgoing MPD Chief Ed Flynn who retires Friday.
Morales was one of two choices the commission was weighing ahead of Thursday’s meeting. Inspector Michael Brunson was also up for the job.

Assistant Milwaukee Police Chief James Harpole was also on the shortlist, but he decided to step away. He will retire on Friday as well.
