Burglars hit popular Kenosha County pizza place

Possibly linked to 5 other break-ins

Burglars targeted a popular pizza place in Kenosha County that may be linked to five other break-ins.

At least two robbers are caught on camera breaking into Pizza Time in Trever before midnight Sunday.  Police said it could be connected to five smash and grabs just over the border in Antioch, Illinois overnight.

"The door was cocked open," said owner Brenda Jonas.

"Glass everywhere.  It was all the way to the basement door," said manager Kendon Burns.

Jonas said they've been robbed a handful of times over the last 30 years.

"We've had footprints in the cheese container, breaking in through the fan in the wall... now we leave the cash register open with no money," Jonas said.

The burglars must not have realized the drawer was practically empty.  Surveillance video shows them running out with the cash register and smashing the time clock before leaving.

News of the break-in didn't keep customers away.

"It's hard to wrap my head around it.  Just a little pizza place like this being targeted," said customer Reymundo Flores Jr.

"It doesn't make sense why like the hooligans of this town would do that cause it's just this little pizza place that everyone loves going to," said customer Mallory Ostrander.

Police found the cash register on a nearby road.

"They just broke in for the sake of breaking in I guess," said customer Michelle Flores.

"If someone needed something they could have asked me for it and I'd give it to them... I would have fed them," Jonas said.

The robbery has only proved how much Pizza Time is loved.

"I have no idea why they would pick this place I have no idea," Jonas said.
