MILWAUKEE — The NBA and The Milwaukee Bucks have been at the forefront pushing for social change.
Senior Vice President Alex Lasry says the team is committed to making an impact on the upcoming election.
"Getting out to vote is probably one of the most important things you can do, and I think for us when we look at how can we make a change and how can we help affect what's going on in our community. One of the biggest things we can do is get out and vote. So what we want to do is engage and register people to vote, not just for the presidential but for local elections and elections up and down the ballot," Lasry says.
The Bucks also came out with a new Bucks vote t-shirt went on sale at the pro shop – all proceeds will be donated to the ACLU of Wisconsin and the League of Women Vote.
The team is going to open up Fiserv Forum as a polling site for early voting.
"Fiserv Forum as an early Vote site is huge," Lasry says. "And I think what we've seen from the April elections, this pandemic has disproportionately affected communities of color. And it's even harder and less safe and less susceptible for communities of color to be able to vote. So having are Arena that allows people to Vote in a safe and accessible way."
