A chain Italian restaurant on the city’s east side has closed.
Buca di Beppo on Van Buren Street’s Facebook page reads “permanently closed,” and on thechain's website the Milwaukee restaurant has been removed from the list of Wisconsin locations.
“It was an incredibly tough decision and we’re actually lucky to be here for the last couple of years as they’ve been looking to rezone this whole entire area, unfortunately our lease was up but business was great until the end,” said Bre Waters, a divisional vice president with Buca di Beppo.
Were stunned, but would like to see the space used again.
“Did not see this coming at all, I would love to see another restaurant here,” said Isaac Pinede who lives about a block away from the restaurant.
Buca di Beppo is an Italian restaurant specializing in family-style dining.
The location in Greendale is still open and listed on the company's website.
