OCONOMOWOC – The Town of Oconomowoc Police Department and the Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s office have identified the body of a man -- which was found in Okauchee Lake nearly a year ago.
According to police, the body has been identified as Thomas M. Engel. Engel’s body was recovered on October 26, 2017.
Engel was reported missing during a boating accident on June 17, 1996. He was 31-year-old at the time.
The preservation of his body was due to the conditions of the lake – which includes the depth of water, cold temperature, and lack of oxygen. Police say this is inconsistent with other deep water recovery of remains.
