Many of you woke up to an ice rink in your front or backyard. The slips and falls that come with ice can be serious.

Having a plan to stay upright while you're walking in icy conditions, even if it's just to get to the mailbox, can make a big difference.
Heather Van Roowalks her dog Truman every day. "You have to walk like a penguin. You have to shuffle or waddle and keep your arms out for balance," she says.
You can also buy ice grips to provide traction.
According to The Red Cross, each year thousands of people are injured from walking on snow and ice-covered parking lots, sidewalks and curbs.
