The entire Brown Deer School District was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a district employee spotted a possible weapon.

The employee informed the district that at about 10:45 a.m. they observed a car with a few students inside and a possible weapon. The district later determined the weapon to be a BB gun, which is not allowed on school campus property.

Brown Deer Superintendent Dr. Deb Kerr released this statement:

"As a school district, we work hard to ensure a safe, healthy and drug- and alcohol-free environment for our students, staff and guests. I commend the staff who immediately reported the incident as we are all responsible for the safety and security of our children and schools. We value our schools as safe and healthy places to work and learn."
