MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee's Bay View community is grieving, after the sudden death of the pizza chef at Anodyne Café.

Meara Downey suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm.

A sketch of her face, flowers and hand-written notes now sit near the pizza oven at the restaurant and coffee shop on Kinnickinnic.

“It's been an outpouring of love and support from everyone that's come in,” said, Lacee Perry, the café’s owner. “She was just full of life and a gentle soul. She poured her heart and soul into this place, and it would not be what it is today without her having been here.”

Even after her death, Meara is still helping others. Her organs are being donated – and her liver will go to her boyfriend's father, who has been waiting for a transplant.
