MILWAUKEE — A group of twenty members with March for Our Lives Wisconsin hung seven banners across the city of Milwaukee in an effort to bring awareness to gun violence in our state.

The banners spelled out the word "protect", some reading "protect marginalized people", "reduce gun suicide" and [offer] community solutions.

The members chose this week to hang the banners because of the national attention the city of Milwaukee is receiving due to the Democratic National Convention.

According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiners Office, as of Aug. 16, there have been 123 homicides in the City of Milwaukee. The majority of the deaths were caused by gun violence.
