Authorities identify body found in the Sheboygan River Sunday

UPDATE -- Sheboygan Police have identified the body from the Sheboygan River as Melvin J. Krause, 73, of Sheboygan. 
 
The Medical Examiner's Office says that the incident was a suicide and the victim died from drowning.

The Sheboygan Police Department and the Sheboygan County Dive Team responded to a report of a body found in the Sheboygan River.

The body was discovered by a passerby around 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning near the 700 block of Riverfront Drive in Sheboygan.

The victim was recovered by the Sheboygan County Dive Team and is described as a middle-aged white male. 

The body has been identified but the name is not being released pending notification of family.

Police say there does not appear to be anything suspicious as to the cause of death and there is no danger to the community.
