Event runs through Sunday

The flowers are in full bloom at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Florist Kristy Zingsheim of Modern Bloom in Oconomowoc told TODAY’s TMJ4 she designed one of more than 40 arrangements that are on display at the Milwaukee Art Museum, while she touched up her creation. Each arrangement is based on a different piece of art.

"The man that actually did the artwork is a Wisconsin native. He was a truck driver so you'll see some of that in his artwork. We brought that in in subtle ways with a Peterbuilt floor mat inside the vase," Zingsheim said.

She added, what makes her art so different is it's alive.

"What's cool about a living piece of artwork is things open, things change a little bit,” she said. “So if you were coming Thursday the piece will look different on Sunday if you return."

Janet Dulde has been coming to Art in Bloom as long as it's been going on.

"It's just gorgeous," she said. "I don't know much about flowers, but I do know what I like.”

She is not alone. By Friday morning at 11 a.m., Windhover Hall was packed with people waiting to get in.

"The floral arrangements are just magnificent. It's just a wonderful, wonderful day. I get as many friends as I can to come here," Dulde said.

"It lets us stretch our creative muscles a little differently," Zingsheim said. "As florists it's what you really enjoy about the job."

Art in Bloom runs through Sunday.
