It's vital for drivers to be prepared for vehicle complications in the cold weather, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says.
Wisconsin State Patrol officers have responded to 243 service calls since Tuesday, according to the DOT.
The DOT says most service calls are from motorists experiencing vehicle problems due to cold weather. In these cases, vehicles have become disabled, stranding drivers.
Only essential travel should be taken in these conditions, and if you must travel the DOT says to dress appropriately, bring extra clothing, have a full tank of gas and make sure your cellphone is fully charged.
