WEST ALLIS — A man involved in a fire hydrant crash in West Allis Monday has died from injuries sustained during the crash, according to West Allis police.

The 82-year-old man was from Greenfield. Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

The man hit a fire hydrant and two trees on the 3100 block of South 108th Street around 3 p.m. He was traveling southbound but crossed over the center median into the northbound lanes and into the east sidewalk. He was the only person in the car.

Police are still investigating the crash.

This crash is unrelated to the other car crash involving a fire hydrant and tree that occurred Monday on Milwaukee's north side. The driver of that crash was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Milwaukee police.
