MANITOWOC COUNTY -- Three Chicago men will appear in court Thursday on charges of attempted homicide and false imprisonment after the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says they kidnapped a man in Chicago, drove him to Manitowoc County, beat him and abandoned him in a ditch.
28-year-old Marne Ferry, 34-year-old Christian Calalang, and 28-year-old Christopher Calalang have been charged in the incident.
In a news release, Sheriff Robert C. Hermann said deputies responded to a home in the Town of Newton last month, where they found the 57-year-old victim with "serious injuries to his head and body." The man told deputies that he was taken against his will in Chicago and transported to Wisconsin, where he was beaten and left in a ditch.
The man later was able to walk to a nearby home and call for help. Deputies say he was hospitalized for his injuries.
Upon learning that the victim was transported across state lines, the FBI joined the investigation and identified 3 suspects living in the Chicago area. They were arrested earlier in May, and transported and booked into the Manitowoc County Jail earlier this week.
All three men will have court appearances Thursday afternoon.
